SALLY PETERSON BRINTON
was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. At the age of 7, she began her formal piano lessons with her mother. Four years later, Sally won first place in the Utah State Fair Music Competition where she was chosen “Musician of Great Promise”. Maestro Maurice Abravanel selected Sally to perform with the Utah Symphony Orchestra as a soloist at the age of 11. Since that time, she has been a featured artist with the Utah Symphony on nine occasions including the World Premiere of the Ramiro Cortes Piano Concerto. Sally graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Utah where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi Scholastic honor societies and was the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance at the University of Utah. Sally was named Miss Utah 1972 and at the Miss America Pageant won the Miss Congeniality Award as well as the Talent Award.
Sally pursued her master’s degree in piano performance from The Juilliard School of Music in New York City. She was a scholarship student of renowned teacher and concert pianist, Adele Marcus. While at Juilliard, Sally won the Concerto Competition and performed Maurice Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand with the Juilliard Orchestra in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. She has won first prize in four national piano competitions and has performed with orchestras in New York, California, Texas, Florida, and Utah. Sally has performed extensively in the United States, Europe and in eastern Russia. She performed in recital with her daughters, Stephanie and Lindsey, at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Sally was named “Florida Young Mother of the Year” in 1980. She and her husband, Greg, lived in Russia for three years as mission leaders for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Sally is a member of the Freedom's Foundation at Valley Forge National Board. Sally and Greg are the parents of 7 children and 35 grandchildren.
STEPHANIE BRINTON PARKER
was born in Salt Lake City, Utah where she began her piano studies at the age of 5 with Dr. Irene Peery Fox. She has won first-prize in two international piano competitions: The Los Angeles International Liszt Piano Competition and the International Bartok-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev Piano Competition. In addition, she was the Utah winner of the Music Teachers National Association Piano Competition. Stephanie has performed in recital at the Richard M. Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, CA. She also has performed in the Young Concert Artists Series in Naples, Italy as part of the Amalfi Music Festival. She has performed throughout the United States, Europe and in eastern Russia with her mother and sister. Stephanie performed in recital at Carnegie Recital Hall in New York City. She has performed as a soloist with orchestras in Utah and Massachusetts. Stephanie is an accomplished athlete having lettered in three sports: cross country, track, and basketball. She was the captain of the girls’ varsity basketball team. Stephanie was named Utah’s Junior Miss and represented the state at the national finals where she was a “Top 8” finalist, winning talent, academic, and community service awards. She was chosen for the USA Today All-USA Academic First Team, one of 20 seniors in the nation to be awarded this honor.
She graduated from Harvard University in East Asian studies with an emphasis in Japanese. She received her Masters Degree in Nutrition at Boston University where she graduated with a 4.00 gpa. She is an associate professor at Brigham Young University where she teaches Nutrition. Stephanie is president-elect of the Utah Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is also a runner and loves to water ski, snow ski, and hike in the mountains. Stephanie and her husband are the parents of 4 beautiful daughters: Hailey, Marie, Ella, and Charlotte.
LINDSEY BRINTON HARRIS was born in Salt Lake City, Utah where she began her piano studies at the age of 5 with Dr. Irene Peery Fox. She is a first-place winner of the International Bartok-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev Piano Competition and placed in four other international piano competitions. She has performed in concert with her mother and sister throughout the United States, Europe, and in Eastern Russia, as well as at Carnegie Recital Hall in New York City. Lindsey performed the Poulenc Double Piano Concerto with the Harvard Orchestra, Timpanogos Symphony, American Fork Symphony, and Utah Valley Symphony Orchestras with her sister, Stephanie. She also performed in Germany with the Brinton Family Pianists in 2022.
Lindsey’s interests are not limited to the piano. She is an accomplished dancer and danced with the Joffrey Ballet and the Juilliard School in summer dance intensive programs in New York City. She also played varsity basketball and tennis in high school, was Student Body President, and a U.S. Senate Youth Scholar. In 2006, Lindsey was crowned Miss Utah’s Outstanding Teen and went on to compete in the national competition, where she was named 1st Runner-up to Miss America’s Outstanding Teen. Just two years later, Lindsey won the title of America’s Junior Miss (now Distinguished Young Woman of America) where she received a total of $62,000 in education scholarships and traveled the country as a youth motivational speaker. She used these scholarships to pursue a bachelors degree at Harvard University, graduating with honors in Economics. Lindsey took a break from her education to serve an 18-month volunteer mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweden, whereupon returning home she continued her education with a juris doctorate degree from Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. She graduated #1 in her law school class. After law school, Lindsey worked primarily as a criminal defense attorney, but is now a full-time mother to her five wonderful children: Nelson, Caleb, Adeline, Eloise, and Luke. She lives in American Fork, Utah with her husband, Dallin.
MICHAEL (16) was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He achieved a Level 10 in the Achievement in Music program, including a top performance score. Michael was selected to perform at the 2023 Utah Music Teacher’s Association Conference. He has earned an honors designation at multiple regional piano competitions, including 4 “perfect” scores. His concerto performance was a 2021 winner in the National Piano Marvel competition. Michael played keyboard with Caleb Chapman’s Roundhouse Little Big Band, and now plays keys in the premier Soundhouse band, Vicious Beat. He also plays the alto saxophone, and electric guitar. He performed with the Brinton Family Pianists in Germany in recital. Michael competes on an academic pentathlon team, earning the State Championship in 2022. Michael has traveled to all 50 states in the USA with his family. He is on the track/cross country teams and plays tennis. He has 4 brothers and 2 sisters and loves being with his family.
JACKSON (14) was born in Iowa City, Iowa. He received second prize in the 2023 International Best Performance Competition Series for Best of Debussy for the 11-13 age group and the “Silver Hands Award” for the 2023 Carles and Sofia International Piano Competition. He also was awarded honorable mention in the 8th grade division at the 2023 MMTA state competition and received the Judge’s Nomination for overall Judge’s Award at the 2023 and 2022 Sonatina/Sonata festival in St. Louis, MO. Jackson performed with the Brinton Family Pianists in Berlin and Frankfurt von Oder, Germany. Jackson has sung in the St. Louis Children’s Choirs for 6 years. He is a competitive runner and a multiple medal-winning swimmer. In addition, he loves snow skiing, tennis, and waterskiing. He is a member of the St. Louis Rowing Club. He studies with Annie Tzeng in St. Louis, MO.
KATE (13) was born in Iowa City, Iowa. She won the First Prize Gold Medal in the 2023 Franz Schubert International Music Competition for the 11-13 age group. She attended the Manhattan School of Music summer program for classical piano in New York City in July 2023. She was the runner-up for the 2023 MMTA state competition for 7th grade. She has been a guest performer at the Capitol Theater in Salt Lake City, UT and performed with the Brinton Family Pianists in Berlin and Frankfurt von Oder, Germany in recital. Kate is a competitive waterpolo athlete and swimmer and enjoys snow skiing, tennis, and playing the violin. She is a 5-year member of the St. Louis Children’s Choirs. She studies with Helen Chiu in Chesterfield. She hopes to swim
in the Olympics.
HAILEY (10) was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has studied piano with Dr. Janae Codner Williams since she was 5 years old. She won First Place in the Encore Solo competition and has been chosen for the honors recital in the Encore Concerto and Solo Piano Festivals. Hailey performed with the Brinton Family Pianists in recital in Berlin and Frankfurt von Oder, Germany. She attends Summit Academy and is in the fourth grade. Hailey enjoys reading, running, science, jumping on the trampoline and being with her family. She is the oldest of four sisters in her family.
ALEXA (9) was born in Overland Park, Kansas. She has received numerous superior rankings at the MMTA state competitions, St. Louis Sonatina/Sonata festivals, and the 2023 National Piano Playing Auditions (Guild). She performed with the Brinton Family Pianists in recital in Berlin and Frankfurt von Oder, Germany. She is a member of the St. Louis Children’s Choirs and enjoys competitive dive and ballet. She studies piano with Lauren DiBisceglie in University City.
NELSON (8) was born in San Francisco, California and loves playing the piano. He has studied piano with Dr. Janae Codner Williams since he was 5. He won first place in the Encore Piano Solo Competition and has received honors awards in several concerto and ensemble competitions. He is in third grade and wants to be an engineer. Nelson is a featured vocal soloist in the One Voice Children’s Choir on YouTube and performs with them regularly. Last year, Nelson was a vocal soloist with Kurt Bestor on the prestigious Eccles Theater Stage and this year, performed in the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He loves skiing, soccer, and baseball, and especially being with his family. As a member of the Brinton Family Pianists, Nelson performed in Germany with them in recital.
MARIE (8) was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has been studying the piano with Dr. Janae Codner Williams since January 2021. She is a second grader at Summit Academy. Marie has won First Prize in the Encore Keyboard Competition three years in a row. She performed with the Brinton Family Pianists in Berlin and Frankfurt von Oder, Germany in recital. She has also been an Honors Recital winner for the Encore Ensemble, Concerto, and Solo festivals. Marie loves reading, gymnastics, ballet, and playing with her three sisters. She recently danced in the Nutcracker Ballet as a page.
THOMAS (7) was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the first-place winner of both the 1st grade Solo Division and the 1st-3rd grade Duet Division at the 2023 MMTA (Missouri Music Teachers Association) state competition. He has also received superior ratings in the 2023 Sonatina/Sonata festival and Federation piano competitions. Thomas is a member of the St. Louis Children’s Choirs and enjoys swimming and playing tennis. He studies with Helen Chiu in Chesterfield. This is his first performance with the
Brinton Family Pianists.
CALEB (6) was born in Denver, Colorado and began studying the piano with Dr. Janae Codner Williams last year. In the short time he has played the piano, he has won several awards including 3rd place in the Encore Piano Solo Competition and honors awards in several other piano competitions, most often against pianists who are several years older than he is. He is in first grade at the American Heritage School where he loves math. Caleb loves every sport, particularly whichever sport is “in season." He is thrilled to have joined the Brinton Family Pianists for his first performance with them.
